SPOONS IN THE MAKING

2/4/2016

Back out in Tuam making a batch of scoops and salad server to be sent out to the Irish Design Shop this week. I've worked with beech many times before and I know how hard it can be but this is by far the hardest. Every two spoons Im having to resharpen my axe! I had no choice but to use the help of some mechanical persuasion. Even with that, the belt sander was sweating. This wood is basically giving me a fight the whole way but they're going to be some beautifully rock solid spoons! I'll post some more pictures of them tomorrow, hopefully finished.

As always when I'm out here I am accompanied by Happy the cat. I swear, this cat does not stop meowing, even after i've given her some of my lunch she was still meowing with her mouth full. She's not a normal cat.
And of course with this workshop being part of Fuinseog Farm I'm surrounded by lovely food.
