There is this purist attitude I have noticed amongst the spoon makers and general woodworkers that if one uses power-tools in their work then your not a "real" craftsperson.
How about we lay off the ego trip a little eh.
Lets remember that regardless of wether you use power-tools or not for your work, the fact that you've dedicated your time and energy to being creative so that others can enjoy is special enough.
We are all artists, no matter the tools or mediums we choose to be creative with.
For some it's leisure, for others it's escape. Not all of us have that picturesque little workshop in the woods where we chop and carve like the olden days.
For some of us we have no choice of where we live and we are limited to what we have access to but the passion to create is stronger than looking the part.
We may not look as "cool" or "genuine" as others in our instagram photos but just remember that we all work our asses off to be artists and makers. So have a little respect.
In todays world we're surrounded and over saturated with competition, greed, fevered ego's, humiliation and struggle. Lets not bring this negativity into the creative realm.
How about we support each others work and simply support creativity, not shut it down or taint it for your own interests and narrow opinions.
Just do what you love and be honest with it.
Use the heart to guide you and the mind to figure it all out and you'll be grand.
