Some pics of the latest additions as well as an experimental piece using a charring technique to protect the wood. I found this technique to be ideal for sycamore wood that can sometimes have a very pale and bland appearance even when it has quite a stunning grain design. The charring makes this design pop out and gives the added bonus of hardening and protecting the wood. In this case I was playing around with this technique mixing both functionality and aesthetics. Overall a success in that I got a good understanding of how to apply the technique for future pieces. However the piece itself is not perfect. A little too charred to one side and a minor split on the back. Fun stuff!
