An illustration I made showing the direction of how the knife should cut along certain parts of a spoon and along the grain of the wood. The top section shows how you get different grain patterns, especially in the bowl section of the spoon, when you use either the inner or outer part of a split log.
I made this illustration as a basic guide for all who have attended my class but can also be used by those looking to try spoon making out on their own. If you wish to share this image I ask that you share it with respect and not to remove my information on the top right. Thanks :)
It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to share what I know and to see people enjoy it, despite the blisters and hand cramps :)
My thanks to all of you attended. Keep at it, you where excellent!
And another big thanks to the Irish Design Shop for setting up such an excellent event. You guys are awesome!
Another very enjoyable workshop wrapped up! We were down two so it made for a cosy class. Many, many thanks to all who attended, my appreciation for your creative curiousity and support, may your blistered cool down and your cuts heal. You made some awesome spoons today!!
